225g (4oz) butter
225g (4oz) sugar
1 egg
1 tsp almond essence
340g (8oz) flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Cream butter and sugar. Add the egg and almond essence and stir again.
Sift the flour and baking powder and stir it all together.
Place small teaspoonfuls, flatten them slightly with the palm of your hand and press a half an almond into the top.
Bake 190C (375F) 12, or golden brown. Make about 35 biscuits.
