4 apples (such as Granny Smiths and Braeburns), or any fruit, such as apricots, nectarines etc,
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 c sugar
1 c water
Grease a 20cm casserole dish.
Peel and core the apples, then cut in half lengthways.
Place the cut apple slices cut side up in the casserole dish.
Rub the butter into the sifted flour and baking powder with the fingertips, stir in the sugar and finally the water.
Pour the mixture evenly over the apples.
Bake 170C for 30 to 40 minutes or until the apples are tender.
