Belgium biscuits (Belgian)

310g (11oz) butter
150g (5 1/2oz) sugar
1 egg
450g (1lb) flour
1 sml tsp b/soda
1 tblsp syrup
1 dsp cocoa
1 dsp cinnamon
1 dsp mixed spice
1 dsp cassia (otherwise use mixed spice)

Beat butter and sugar together, add syrup, add egg. Beat and then add dry ingreds.
Roll out all the mixture and cut out biscuit shapes with biscuit cutter.
Bake 180C for 10 mins.
When cooked pin together with jam, and ice, and sprinkle with jelly crystals.

The original recipe also called for 1 tbsp burnt sugar
